My interest in photography as an art form began some ten years ago. Since retiring and moving to Northern California in late 1998, I have devoted the major portion of my time to developing my photographic skills. Subject-wise, I seek out nature’s beauty in all its forms, as well as the uniqueness and attraction of people and places in different cultures. I have traveled extensively throughout the American West and overseas.
I greatly enjoy the challenge of photography in all its facets from the quest of taking a pleasing image with its considerations of composition, appropriate exposure, and other factors to capture the magic of light. An additional challenge is the making of a superior print using Photoshop as a substitute for the traditional darkroom. Professional quality demands the use of archival inks, paper, and museum quality 8-ply matting.
